Wednesday, November 4, 2020 - FDRSP – High Falls State Park

There is time this morning for a cup of coffee while sitting in the rockers on the screened-in front porch. It’s cool and clear and there are trees everywhere you look. So calming after last night! Everyone finds something for breakfast and packs a little snack for the road and after a leisurely start we head for High Falls State Park, about an hour and a half away. It’s an uneventful drive, filled with laughter and stories and a continuing discussion about the election and the future of the country. High Falls is on the Towaliga River, which cascades over a bedrock of High Falls Granite. We stop at the Visitors’ Center for directions to the hiking trail and we’re off. The path follows the river past a series of cascades roaring their presence. The four of us make our way for quite a while until Marilyn and Connie decide to head back to the car while Ginger and I continue onward for a while longer. At one point a white blur charges b...
